Home is Where My Heart is
Home is complex. At its core, it holds so many different definitions. Sometimes I find myself seeking home for comradery, needing to tap into the love seeping through each living vessel within our four walls of space. Sometimes things aren’t as sweet and I bring my ass home for a reality check. A reminder that no matter what I go through I have my base. My foundation. Sometimes we make a home in others and find ourselves yearning for their words, their embrace, maybe even their advice. Home is everything to me and wherever or whomever you may consider home to be is just as important. I wanted part 2 of my Home is Where the Heart is series to truly embody that. Each of the pieces has a story to tell.
I wanted this installment of the Home series to pay homage to the holiday season we are currently in through the colorways I chose for the hoodie and long-sleeve pieces. The natural colored hoodie is laced with the home slogan in a deep red text with a splash of navy for contrast. These colors hit on some major holiday themes but also show love to installment one of the series that dropped on Valentine’s Day.
The long-sleeve piece is forest green and embellished with the home slogan in a golden and natural text. This colorway represents one of my favorite parts of the holidays, the Christmas tree, and the angel that my family and I usually place on top.
In November I took on 2020 Creative and redirected it into my production company, fostering the ideas used in my apparel, podcast, and creative strategy endeavors. The additional merch dropping with this release is based on the original #2020Campaign on behalf of what the brand once was. These pieces have all taken on a new meaning as I transitioned into taking the brand on as my own. The Black Creators Errand Tote’s premise is simple. Black Creators Vs. Everybody ~ US & never them. By them, I mean anyone who tries to oppose the stories we choose to tell and the ways in which we tell them. The Idea Journal was sparked from the “Essential Pieces” #2020Campaign ad and focuses on having space for you to seamlessly build your ideas. The “Six Feet” stickers are a friendly reminder to socially distance in style ~ stick em up wherever you are for an added nod to creativity.
Every detail in this release was carefully thought out in order to tell a story and the entire collection is dedicated to my Uncle Tony. One of the most amazing people I’ve ever met and a man who always kept home in mind. I will miss you forever.
